Today started out just fine. I had the plan to make it out to Canton First Monday Flea market as soon as could get all my work at the office done. Wouldn't you know that I had to take a bunch of international shipments to the PO AND make a payroll tax deposit at the bank first. I got all that done and by 12:45 and was headed down the road to Flea Market Heaven.
I forgot my camera, so no pictures, but I've got a story to tell.
It is starting to get hot here in TX, and today was around 85. Now in the midst of August that's a cool front. But when we've gotten accustomed to cooler temps, it's really hot. Now add the humidity and sunshine to that, and walking around Canton got a bit sticky. After 2 hrs, I was pretty much done with the Field shopping, and was headed to the Civic Center (Air-conditioned) to see some friends and cool off a bit. I had one last stop at a place near theentrance to the CC, and then I headed for the great indoors. Just as I found my friends, I looked at my push cart and I realized it was NOT MINE!!!!!! Lickety split, back out the door I go towards the last place I had visited. As I walk out the CC doors I see a very panicked woman looking at the cart I'm pulling. On a hunch I asked her if it was hers. She looked at it and said 'yes' but still seemed a bit perplexed. I apologized again and again, and asked where I had left mine. She showed me and it was exactly where I thought it was. I put my arm around her apologized again, we laughed about it, and then I headed back to the CC as soon as I felt she had recovered. As I approached my friends (sellers) I told them the story and we had a big laugh. I guess the heat was really getting to me. Her cart didn't even look like mine :/
Just so I won't have a post without pictures, take a look at what I found the other day.
Aren't these knobs just too cool. You all know how I love clocks, numbers, and B&W graphics and these are just perfect. I placed them inside a clock plate and turned a white cup upside-down for a makeshift candy dish. I added a few of my XVI balls and I just love it.
I don't know if I'll use them as knobs someday, but for now they are just fine in the candy dish, with all my other clock stuff.

I seem to find things in spurts, and recently I've been finding work lights. You know the kind with those great metal cages around them. When I found this one I knew what I had to do with it.
I was inspired by this book.
Which is one of my current favs, and you've heard me talk about it before. If you are looking at how to work a slight industrial feel into your decor, this is the book for you. Anyway...I put this lamp together this weekend and it was sooooo easy.
First thing I did was to find the trouble light and an old base. You could easily make a base out of wood.
I have a box of lamp parts, from lamps I've taken apart, and I found a short threaded bar in one of them and attached it to the lamp base.
Then I drilled a hole in a dowel so it slipped over the threaded bar, and I glued it to secure it. If you want a more fancy look, use an old spindle instead of a dowel. Then I attached the trouble light to the wooden dowel with 2 screws, and wrapped the cord around the outside of the dowel.
How you attach your trouble light will depend on it's design. Some have a clamp, you might be able to just clamp it to your dowel.
I did paint the cord black because it was stained and dirty. The electrical seemed sound so I did not feel the need to re-wire it. Leaving the cord exposed added a little bit more of that industrial feel. I will need to add an on/off switch to this one as it does not have one. Plug in =on, unplug=off.
For a finial I used an old door knob.
If you can use a drill you can do this project.
For now this lamp will live where you see it in the picture. But after Son #1 moves out, his room is going Industrial/cottage, Can't wait to use it in there. I have another trouble light for the other side of the bed. It's a different design and I'll try a different style of lamp.
Get ready to cry a river. First let me say that I really don't like making furniture. But I had this great headboard just screaming to be a bench. So I started working on it about 9mos ago, with the idea of having it done by the Spring Gresham Barn Sale.
This is what it looked like 1 week before drop off day.
The sides are from an old chair, the back is the old headboard. I worked and work on it to make it strong and stable and
I did get it painted in time, and transported and set up for the show, but it did not sell.
So we brought it home. I unloaded it from the trailer, but did not take it up to the barn, I needed Hubby's help. I figured, it's big and white and sitting out in the middle of the yard no one will run over it right? WRONG!!!!
Aparently DH hooked up the trailer, and had to do the forward/ backwards thing to get it out of the drive way and backed right over my creation.
To his credit, he does feel bad, and has promised to help me put it all back together. I told him not to bother, that I didn't want to transport it from sale to sale, just to have it not sell. But he said he liked it and wanted it for our yard. he's good at heart.
He called me to tell me about it so I wouldn't "discover" it and get mad. Very smart on his part, by the time I saw it, I was over the shock and disappointment.
It's just a thing, and it can be fixed, so It's all good. But the story is truly Blog Worthy.

As I said in the last post. DH was gone all last week, and I had lots of time on my hands. So some crazy projects crept into my brain. The first one is this bed spring project. I've shown these springs before, they have these great hooks on them. I decided to hook them onto an old rusty bucket I use as a planter and add some candles.
Those are just regular votive cups, they fit right in there. I kind alike this project.
The next one is a bit strange, and I'm not sure how I feel about it now that I've made it. When I took the bed apart I had all these little springs that connected the larger springs. I decided to try and make some kind of wreath out of them. I just wired these onto an old hoop I had. It's a small wreath about 10" dia. I think it needs a little something more though. Any ideas???
Well those are my 2 Spring Projects, fooled ya huh? You thought I meant Spring, as in April showers, May flowers Spring.
